US DONATES EQUIPMENTS TO SUPPORT FIGHT AGAINST CHILD MALNUTRITION IN SAN MARTIN
LIMA, Feb. 14 (NNN-ANDINA)-- The government of the United States has provided 230 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to the region of San Martin as part of an initiative that will help improve health services and combat chronic child malnutrition in this jungle area.

The US Embassy in Peru explained these UPS units are necessary to implement the SIS GalenPlus, a linear integrated system of information that has enabled to integrate and simplify information records, and provides supporting reports for the local management of health services.

SIS GalenPlus has enabled to move away from paper to electronic storage of information.

Patients do not have to wait in long lines any more, and their medical records are available on a computer network.

In addition, doctors can write and save notes in the patient’s medical record to be later seen by those in lab or pharmacy.

The system also allows clinical and administrative personnel to share the same information with a patient without searching through endless files.

One of the system’s greatest achievements has to do with its capacity to reduce chronic child malnutrition in a more effective way, since patients can be continuously monitored and risk factors can be identified to ensure timely action when required.
